Q. What is BookSpring Readathon?

BookSpring Readathon is a giving event fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. The Readathon is an initiative of BookSpring.


Q. When is BookSpring Readathon?

BookSpring Readathon is on January 24, 2020 through February 9.


Q. Which organizations can participate?

Schools, organizations, and individual readers in Central Texas.


Q. Who can donate?

Anyone may donate. Donations through the BookSpring Readathon online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit cards and will be receipted by GiveGab. Cash and checks to the student readers will be receipted by BookSpring. Checks should be made out to BookSpring.


Q. How can I donate?

To make your donation to the Readathon, you can find your student reader's fundraising page here and donate through their individual fundraising pages or you can donate on behalf of the school directly. Just choose the fundraiser or school you want to support and click on the "Donate" button that appears on their profile.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. How will donations be distributed?

Each online donation made to the Readathon will be disbursed directly from GiveGab via direct deposit within 5 business days to BookSpring.


Q. How much of my donation goes to BookSpring?

GiveGab retains a 2.5% campaign management fee from all donations. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + $0.30 for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization. All donations are final and cannot be refunded.


Q. Who will receive my contact information?

BookSpring will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.


Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.


Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit https://www.bookspringreadathon.org on your mobile device.


Q. Can I pre-schedule a donation for BookSpring Readathon?

You cannot pre-schedule your BookSpring Readathon gift.  In order for your donation to be counted towards prize incentives awarded to the student readers for BookSpring Readathon it must be made between January 14 and February 23.


Q. What if my preferred school or organization is not listed?

Please sign up as a Galaxy Reader, designed for individual readers whose schools are not participating. Donors who would like to support the BookSpring Readathon as a program can give to Sponsor A Student.
